ABOUT
LISA
Call her an urban cowgirl with soul. Lisa Gentile is a singer-songwriter
who sings from the heart and plays from the hip. Time Out, New York
says Lisa "inspires quite effortlessly with a stunning voice
that soars and takes you along for the ride." Lisa has released
three independent CD's, "Becoming", The EP "Three"
and "A Very Country Compilation" all of which have garnered
critical acclaim. In 2010, Lisa recorded and co-produced her latest
set of songs (soon to be released) with producer David Greenberg (EMI,
Virgin, RCA, Atlantic Records).
Lisa is the gifted daughter of Mickey Gentile, Motown Record producer
to legendary artists including Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Connie
Francis, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Diana Ross & The
Supremes and many more. Her mother, Jennifer Lambert was a successful
writer and recording artist who topped numerous charts at Decca Records.
Not only did Lisa grow up surrounded by music icons, she was deeply
inspired by her gifted family and clearly inherited their musical
talents. Lisa was poised to pursue a career in show business. She
moved to New York City at an early age and success soon followed.
In short time, Lisa was starring in national commercials, TV specials,
various stage and musical productions, and she won multiple episodes
of Star Search (with perfect scores). Next, she studied at the acclaimed
HS of Performing Arts in New York City, AKA “Fame” and
received her BA in Arranging and Composition from Bard College.
Lisa was then discovered by producer/writer Keith Diamond (Mick Jagger,
Donna Summer, Michael Bolton) who jumpstarted and nurtured her writing
and recording career.
Soon after, Lifetime Television's “Real Women” chose Lisa
as one of 12 standout women to join the Lifetime Real Women family.
These notable women represented the network in its ongoing connections
with consumers and business partners. The LRW campaign featured the
individual stories of real, everyday women, bringing their inspiring
and entertaining perspectives to viewers across America.
Though Lisa has resided in New York City most of her life, she has
not forgotten where she came from and continues to give back to the
Central NY community where she spent her childhood years. She launched
Music Heals CNY, a not-for-profit endeavor very close to her heart.
Music Heals brings live acoustic music to the bedsides of patients
and family healthcare facilities, and holds CD drives donating CDs
to facilities in need of music libraries. Lisa also produces concerts
and events, including the original Naked Songwriter Series, which
features artists in the raw. In addition, she is the creator and host
of the popular "Music Mavericks" Songwriter Night and serves
as a mentor to many up and coming artists.
Lisa currently resides in Nashville, TN where she continues to write,
perform and record with the industry’s premier musicians and
producers in today’s market.
