Lisa Gentile adopts The Coffee Pavilion (111 East Water Street, Syracuse NY) in Hanover Square as the new home of her acclaimed Open Mic night. “Music Mavericks” is every Wednesday, from 7:00pm-12:00am and will run weekly on Wednesdays thereafter. Sign ups for “Music Mavericks” are from 7:00pm-10:00pm and performances run from 7:30pm-12:00am. Beverages, beer, wine, snacks and pastries are available throughout. There is no cover charge.
What gives this open mic a twist is that each week a well-known artist or theme is chosen for the evening and performers are encouraged to bring in their covers of, or their own originals inspired by that specific artist or theme. However, performers are not required to stick with the theme and are welcome to perform any material they would like.
“This is not your run of the mill open mic like I’ve experienced in the past, where performers wait in line to sing and head for the door,” says Lisa Gentile. “Though the themes have changed from week to week, there has been a consistent spirit throughout. What we have seen are mavericks, mavericks evolving into a community of talented musicians supporting each other in a most nurturing and artistic environment. Hence, the name “Music Mavericks”.
“Music Mavericks” at The Coffee Pavilion provides a music venue for all ages and a local haven for some of the best international and local musicians that frequent the Central NY area.
